Privacy Policy

Information you give us. When you contact us, chat with us on the site, sign up for updates, request partner information, arrange care, request a crafted memorial, or place an order, we collect what you provide. That can include your name, phone number, email address, mailing address, your pet’s name and details, photos you upload, your service and memorial choices, and anything you write in a message.

Information from veterinary partners. When your veterinarian arranges aftercare with us, the practice shares the details we need to care for your pet and reach you. That includes your name and contact information and your pet’s name, species and weight.

Payment information. Online payments are processed by Stripe or QuickBooks Payments (Intuit). We do not see or store your full card number.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we use analytics to understand how visitors use the site, such as which pages are viewed, how people move through them, and the general type of device or browser. We use Vercel Web Analytics, which does not use cookies or track you across other websites. On companah.com we also use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, which use cookies; Clarity records how visitors click and scroll so we can see where a page is confusing. We use Google Ads to measure whether our ads lead families to us, and Google may use cookies to show our ads to people who have visited the site. Your browser also remembers your cart and how you first found us, so a later message to us can include it.

We use your information to:

• care for your pet and provide the services and memorials you choose
• communicate with you about your pet’s care, including updates by phone, text or email
• process payments and keep business records
• work with your veterinary practice
• send occasional updates if you signed up for them
• improve our website and services
• meet our legal and regulatory obligations

If you give us your mobile number, we may text you about your pet’s care and your order. Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop receiving texts or HELP for help. We do not sell or share your mobile number or text messaging consent with third parties for their marketing purposes.

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:

• with your veterinary practice, when they arranged your pet’s care
• with service providers who help us run Companah, such as payment processing (Stripe and QuickBooks Payments), shipping (Shippo), phone and text messaging, email (Resend), website hosting (Vercel), secure data storage (Supabase), our website chat assistant (Claude, by Anthropic), website analytics and advertising (Google and Microsoft), and record-keeping tools. They may use your information only to provide services to us.
• when required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our families, staff or others
• if Companah’s business is sold or reorganized, in which case the information would transfer with the business and remain subject to the protections in this policy

We limit access to personal information to the staff and providers who need it, and we use reasonable safeguards to protect it. We keep records for as long as we need them to provide our services, maintain each pet’s chain-of-custody and care records, and meet legal and tax requirements.

• Email updates: use the unsubscribe link in any email.
• Texts: reply STOP.
• Cookies and ads: you can block or clear cookies in your browser settings, and turn off personalized ads at Google’s ad settings.
• Access or corrections: you can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you by emailing home@companah.com or calling (919) 728-7200. We will honor requests unless we must keep the information for legal or recordkeeping reasons.

Our website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above shows when it last changed.
